5 Simple Confidence Boosters You Can Try Today.
Do you want to be more confident?
Do you ever feel like life isn’t going your way, like you’re not enough or that everyone else has it together whilst you’re still trying to figure things out?
If this sounds familiar…you’re not alone!
Studies in the last five years have shown that there is a ‘self-love’ crisis globally with one in two women feeling more self-doubt than self-love and close to 80% of women struggling with low self-esteem.
A lack of confidence can impact our ability to make decisions, it can cause us to shy away from self-advocacy in our workplaces and our interpersonal relationships can be impacted in unhelpful ways.
Feeling ‘less than’ can lead to mental health issues like depression, social anxiety or eating disorders and unhealthy coping mechanisms can impact our physical health, meaning we’re not participating in life in a way which serves us, or those around us.
What can we do to boost our self-confidence?
Here are 5 simple confidence boosting tips for women which can help you feel better about who you are, where you’re going and how to get there.
This week I share my first two tips & next week there are three more for you.
Each tip ends with a SMART goal example which I might use myself. These are my goals and won’t necessarily work for you but they might give you an idea of how to go about things and set you on the path to becoming a more confident version of yourself.

hot tip #1
Exercise
Find something you enjoy doing.
Start slowly! If you go in all guns blazing it’s probably not going to be sustainable.
Set a goal which you are going to stick to & you can build on.
Gather a tribe. Could be just one friend to start with or a group, it depends on what you choose & how you do what you do!
My SMART goal
Specific: Walk the dog 4 mornings a week.
Measurable: 4 mornings every week for 2 weeks.
Achievable: I start work at 7am 3 days a week so I will walk on the days I don’t work.
Realistic: Because I know I can’t walk on workdays this goal is not overwhelming.
Timely: I will check back in with myself (or my therapist/coach) in 2 weeks.

hot tip #2
Identify & acknowledge your strengths
Reflect on past successes. Think back to a time you felt successful or accomplished something important & identify the strengths & qualities that contributed to the outcome.
Ask friends whom you trust what they think your strengths & shining qualities are. Why are they friends with you? Think about them & the qualities you like in them; do you possess the same ones?
Take a strengths assessment test & identify what talents can be developed into strengths.
Acknowledge the strengths you already have, don’t take them for granted. We’re really good at brushing things off, but by taking the time to recognize what comes naturally we can nurture our skills & ‘Play to our Strengths’.
Acknowledge & celebrate your accomplishments both big & small.
Don’t be modest! Share wins with friends, take yourself out for brunch, dance around the lounge with the music up…whatever gives you a boost of energy & joy!
My SMART goal
Specific: Take the free VIA Survey.
Measurable: Complete the survey within a week.
Achievable: I have a day off work on Wednesday & time to spend in office.
Realistic: Not difficult to find VIA website, make a profile & complete the survey.
Timely: Only takes 10 minutes & I have all day Wednesday.
